Freak of nature turning heads on Kamloops O-Line

Whether it’s on the gridiron or foreign soil, heading into battle is easier with Rowen Munson, a mobile mountain of a man, on the front lines.

The 19-year-old left tackle stands 6-foot-4 and tips the scales at 325 pounds. He is following in his family’s footsteps in becoming the third of four Munson boys making a name for himself on and off the field.

A rugby player growing up, he made his way to the Broncos on a recommendation from his oldest brother, Soren. Soren was departing for the east coast to play for the Mount Allison University Mounties on a football scholarship and told the Broncos to get in touch with Rowen.

“I got a call from the coach at that time, we talked about my background and he thought I would be a great fit in the program. He put me on the offensive line during my first practice and I’ve been there ever since,” said Rowen.

At an imposing 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds as a 16-year-old, Rowen made a great first impression at Broncos camp. It was in the following weeks and months that the BC Football Conference club realized the type of potential he possessed.
