The Huskers turned to third-string quarterback Noah Makkreel after backup quarterback Jacob Davies suffered a lower-body injury just before halftime. Makkreel made the most of his opportunity by completing 7 of 11 passes for 130 yards, and handling the Kodiaks’ pressure admirably, though he did throw one interception. The Huskers’ receiving corps also contributed explosive plays, as Luc Rodrigues, Payton Lake, and Steven Koniuck each hauled in over 30-yard catches, stretching the Kodiaks’ defence.
